Collections » Ruffles Neckpiece
This piece was created using copper and resin colour to fill the centres. The design was for a competition involving the Victoria and Albert museum and Ancestors ltd which was for students to create an item of jewellery derived for an item found in the V and A museum. I chose a painting of a Duke from the Tudor era who was wearing a ruffles collar that I recreated. The sections were firstly bent into flower like shapes at various sizes and soldered onto a small tube to slide onto the final neckpiece. Then they were filled with a coloured resin which I managed to gradually change from blue to red as it ran through each piece. Then once set they were sanded down each side and polished up and then placed in their positions on the final piece.
It won a highly commended award for costume jewellery category at £100 to £400.
